ANOTHER RESCUE FROM THE WILD  


Aldergrove – Two male wild orphan moose arrived at the Greater Vancouver Zoo on September 10 soon after being separated from their moms. The Alaska State Government contacted the zoo to see if we were interested in providing a good home for them and the zoo gladly agreed to do just that!

IT’S A GIRL  

Aldergrove – What is 1.8 meters (6 feet) tall and weighing in at over 58 kg (129 lbs), with a long neck and legs and lots of spots; and of course cute as ever - well it is the latest addition to our Giraffe family! On Sunday at approximately 9 pm, the Greater Vancouver Zoo welcomed the birth of a beautiful baby girl Rothschild’s Giraffe.

AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN FINDS A HOME AT THE ZOO  

Aldergrove – Our Pelican came to the Greater Vancouver Zoo after being sighted injured on the ground near Creighton, Saskatchewan in November 2008.  Thankfully a group of concerned citizens noticed him sitting on the ground and not flying away, and brought him to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon.

8 YEARS IN SUPPORT OF JUVENILE DIABETES AT THE ZOO  

Aldergrove – Since 2001 the Greater Vancouver Zoo has been honored to host the TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising event for the Fraser Valley.  Last year alone we welcomed over 3,000 people to a complimentary visit to the Zoo, in hopes that their fundraising efforts will help find a cure for Juvenile Diabetes.
