12/09 ~ Giraffe Naming Contest
PRESS RELEASE
Date: December 16, 2009
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GIRAFFE NAMING CONTEST
Aldergrove – YOU have all been asking…what is her name? When is she getting a name? Who decides on what her name is? Where can you go to name her?
Yes we are all talking about the latest female addition to our Rothschild’s Giraffe family at the Greater Vancouver Zoo! She was born on October 18th and has quite the energy and personality! Her big brother, Amryn, and her have really bonded. You will see him reaching over the fence, touching, smelling and licking her. Currently she spends most days in her heated indoor enclosure, but when she does go outside on the warmer days; you will see big brother Amryn running along side in the enclosure next to her. She has experimented with solid foods such as some grain, bamboo and blackberry leaves that the rest of her family enjoys.
So where do you go to submit your name? The best place of course is to come by the zoo and see her in person so that you can determine which special name suits her best. A box has been set up right outside of her indoor enclosure, or if you are not in the area right now you can submit an entry via email to namethebaby@gvzoo.com
We will determine two winners: Grand Prize winner will win One Family Year Membership to the Greater Vancouver Zoo and a private “Behind the Scenes” encounter with the latest addition and the other members of the giraffe family! And the runner up will receive One Family Year Membership to the zoo as well.
The contest closes on January 15th and the winner will be announced on January 18th on the baby’s 3rd month birthday.
