Date: May 6, 2009
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MIA THE SPIDER MONKEY, STILL MISSING 1 YEAR LATER
Aldergrove – It will be a year tomorrow that our beloved Jocko (male spider monkey) was murdered and Mia (his mate) was kidnapped. We are extremely thankful for all the support, kind thoughts and numerous tips that we have received to date; but we do want everyone to know that we haven’t given up on the search for our beautiful and truly missed Mia and we hope that you too can help us.
As a reminder about Mia, she is approximately 1.5 feet in height (45.7 cm) and weighs 24 lbs (11 kg), with a dark brown/black fur coat around most of her body with a golden color on her chest and stomach, long tail and beautiful steel blue eyes.
MIA - STILL MISSING
The Greater Vancouver Zoo has made significant changes and enhancements to our security system, since this unfortunate incident with our dear spider monkeys. Our security system now includes on-site camera surveillance and round the clock monitoring to protect the animals that are in our care.
If you have heard or seen anything at all, please contact the Zoo at 604.856.6825 or the RCMP at 604.532.3200 immediately. All calls will be kept confidential.
