06/21 ~ Zoo opens up heart once again
Date: June 21, 2008
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ZOO OPENS UP HEART ONCE AGAIN FOR FOLKS WITH DISABILITIES
Aldergrove – On June 23rd, the Greater Vancouver Zoo is opening up their heart once again for the annual Access Day at the Zoo.
It is a day of giving back to folks with disabilities and sometimes on a limited budget, so the Zoo offers an extremely discounted rate of $5 per person (all aids are welcomed in for free) for groups of 5 or more; to come and experience a day of fun!
“We have over 1100 confirmed people coming this year and we are thrilled, it is such a fun day” boasts Missy Butler, Education & Tour Assistant. This is probably one of the largest numbers of people attending this yearly event that has been going on for the last 10 years at the Zoo. In addition to the Zoo employees, we have a number of dedicated volunteers who come out to help every year make this a wonderful day by giving out stickers and posters, doing face painting and setting up an information touch booth for all to experience. Our guests also get a chance to discover all of our educational talks with the Zookeepers and animals at the Meet a Reptile, Lion & Tiger feeding, Giraffe Snack, Parrot talk, Lemur feeding, Hippo feeding, Radical Raptor Birds of Prey; and of course taking the train around the perimeter of the Zoo and the bus through the North American Wilds.
Great day for all……
