FAMILY NIGHT IN THE WILD
Bring your family and join the fun for our annual "Family Night in the Wild" events this summer! Starting in July and August we are offering a special evening for you and your family to experience sleeping overnight at the Zoo in our magnificent picnic area - right next to where the night animals live!
Once night falls, our guides and volunteers will accompany you on a walking safari throughout the Zoo so you can observe the behaviour of our animals before dusk. This extremely fun-filled event includes hot chocolate and marshmallows while we tell stories, play games or sing songs (guitars welcome).
During the night you will not get much sleep as you will hear the lions roaring, wolves howling and a few feathered friends will make sure you are awake in the morning!
Wake up in the morning to a light breakfast, meet a Zookeeper and learn about a animal and enjoy a 40 minute narrated train and bus ride.

ROBERT BATEMAN GET TO KNOW LAUNCH - APRIL 22ND

Mr. Bateman is inviting youth across Canada to submit art, writing or photography of your wild neighbors. The goal is to be as creative as possible - so let the natural world inspire you!
Adventure, fun, exploration - it is all waiting for you! This year's theme is "Celebrate Biodiversity". Get outdoors and discover all the cool things to do and see in your local environment. From your own backyard to our towering national forests, you can find plants and animals at every turn. Develop a connection with these wild neighbors! Learn their names. Find out where they live. Get the contest details and entry information at www.gettoknow.ca
EARTH DAY CELEBRATION - THINK GREEN - APRIL 17TH
Come join us for our Earth Day celebration - there will be lot of activities for everyone to learn more about how you can help the environment and help save the animals in the wild!
Bring along your cell phone for recycling and you can help save wildlife habitats of the Lowland Gorillas and also help prevent the dangers from discarded cell phones.
**Purchase 1 admission at the regular price and get the 2nd admission of equal or lesser value for free with every cell phone brought in for recycling. Cell phones are made with an ore called Coltan (columbite-tantalite) and this ore is found in Central Africa in the middle of wildlife habitats. Mining operations means losses to these habitats and increased hunting. Animals are being killed by rebel bands mining this ore. Reducing the demand for Coltan will help save these animals lives and their habitats.
The zoo's partnership with Eco-Cell allows you to drop off your phones and accessories whether they work or not (collection box at the entrance). Everything that is collected will either be reused or 100% recycled to ensure the proper disposal of obsolete cell phones, batteries and chargers.
THE ANIMALS AND ALL OF US WILL THANK YOU!
